God killed the first animal genius. Read the Bible if you really want to know if the real God allows such acts. He actually encouraged it in the substitutiary sacrificial system. He allowed the eating of meat after Noah, but only "clean" animals (there were certain criteria), and after the cross, He allowed ANY animal to be eaten.
If God didn't want us to eat the animals, why'd he make em' taste like meat? *snicker*

Animals do feel pain. But if you want to make a comparison of trauma pain that would be comparable to killing an animal for food then talk to people who have been shot, or in a major accident. Some feel a certain pain, not all severe, but some have no remembrance at all of the accident. In severe trauma the animal goes in to shock so fast that all responses are dulled. In slaughterhouses where a bolt is shot in the animals skull it is instant - really about the most humane way an animal can be killed.
The ways humans kill for meat are much more humane than the ways most any carnivorous animal kills for meat.

Yes, sadly. You people need to be vegitarians, or even a vegan. People don't understand that animals are precious creatures, not food. The animals were made for living, not for being turned into a hot dog, or mde into the newest snake-skin boots! Animals should be treated how humans should be treated. Pretend you are a chicken going to be eaten. Would you like it if you were trapped in a 4X4 cage with 5 other chickens on a convetor belt to be turned into a chicken sandwich at McDonalds? I don't think so! I don't care about the other idiot answerers saying that animals are ment for eatin', not living. That is so stupid and wrong. Go see Babe, and you will understand.
Let the world fill with vegitarians!

1. Ainimals probably feel pain no matter for WHAT reason they die.
2. Life feeds on life. That's the way things are. No matter what kind of life you consume, you're living on the death of something else.
3. These things are not avoidable.
What relationship, if any, does this have to the existence or non-existence of a "God"?

In France, they force-feed geese for a month in order to enlarge their livers, then promptly slaughter them for a dish of foie gras. I assume this would be painful, no?
It is easy to bear pain depending on the circumstances, and if gods actually exist, they will pass it off as a human's "free will."

Would you feel pain if you were killed for meat?
Of course you would. Then why would it be any different for animals?
