What should I do about this? They are NOT attached to her skin but look like dried skin. I find them on her bed after she has been biting at her self and when I checked the area there were more. She doesn't seem to hurt in the area. Could they be worms? Or just dried skin?

These are tapeworms, they break off into tiny segments after they leave the body, they can stay alive for a bit outside the body. You need to have her dewormed. They get tapeworms from eating fleas so make sure you get her on a good flea prevenative like advantage or frontline. Make sure you get a dewormer for tapeworms. You should also probably take her to the vet for a fecal exam and make sure that she doesn't have any other worms. The medication needed for just tapeworms can usually just be purchased through a veterinarian, you don't want to buy over the counter, most of those are for other worms also and you don't want to be putting any toxins into her system that isn't needed. GOOD LUCK!!

As everyone has said above, these are tapeworm segments. Dogs usually get tapeworm infections after a flea infestation which is why it's so important amongst other reasons of course to keep your dog flea free. Invest in some good anti flea medication such as frontline plus and spray the dog or spot on the dog every 4 weeks. These treatments will also cover the dog against ticks for 2 weeks so if you need to protect the dog against ticks you need to treat every 2 weeks.

Tapeworm can make a dog extremely ill - they latch onto the walls of your dog's intestines and basically steal nutrients that are usually absorbed through the intestine. Dogs can experience vomiting, lose stacks of weight, and experience behavioural changes. They will keep reinfecting themselves unless you're able to treat them once and for all.

In future, you should be worming her every three months with an all wormer that specifically includes tapewormer. She should also be wormed against heartworm every month or you can alternatively get an injection that will prevent heartworm once a year. Speak with your vet regarding tapeworm treatments. There are also injections available. The vet nurst at your vet's surgery should be able to assist you - you won't necessarily have to pay for a consultation.

Do not let her eat her poop either - she'll reinfect herself with those segments that are larvae. yerch. :P

The rice things you are talking about are more than likely Tape Worms. This is caused (most times) when a dog itches infected fleas with the tapes and injests the flea. It don't take an entire lot of fleas to give her tapes so instead of just treating her for tape worms, i'd also treat her for fleas.
Go to your local vet (if you know your dogs weight you don't have to bring her) and ask for some tape worms pills (specify her weight) and some advantage (flea medicine). Usually this will cost about thirty bucks. ($5 for the tapeworm pill and $25 for the flea control). Fleas are harder to get rid of so i'd also go to walmart or another department store and buy some fleas control spray for your house. Flea babies get into the carpet and keep coming if their not controlled, if a dog walks across the eggs, their pads will pick them up and turn in to adults. and don't forget to spray everywhere she likes to sleep.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Your dog has tape worms. It is common if your dog also has fleas. One is related to the other. Check out this web page, http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_tapeworm.html

A vet visit for worming medicine will take care of the problem. You must keep the fleas off of your dog though. So a good regiment of bathing your dog as well as treating the dog for fleas will be in order. Also it means that you have to treat of the dog's bedding (washing the pillow cover as well as treating the bed or crate) as well as your home for fleas. If you find that the dog's bedding is infested with fleas, a new bed would be in order.

Sounds like your dog has tapeworms. Describe what you have seen when you go to the Vet. If she has a stool and you look at it right after, does it look like she has bits of white rice in it?
What you are describing sounds like dried up tapeworms. Ask your Vet to be sure and to get the right treatment for it.

What you're seeing are tapeworm segments.

You HAVE to take your dog to the vet to have it dewormed because the wormers at pet stores do NOT kill tape worms!

If you do NOT do this NOW!...these tapeworms will LITERALLY eat your dog from it's insides out. Worms can also cause other health problems such as anemia, etc. that your Vet needs to address.

It very well could be tapeworms. They require special wormer. most wormers at the store dont treat tapes, so you need to get a specific wormer for the tapeworms. It could also be a rash or something else so I would recommend taking it to the vet. They can treat what ever it is all in one trip (if you deworm at home and that doesnt help you will end up at the vet anyway)

This is tape worm segments breaking off from a larger tape worms in her intestines... get your dog dewormed, and make sure no other animals eat the segments, as this is where the worms' eggs are stored. Best of luck!
