If you already treated their hair in the past two or so days then no more treatments with harsh chemicals. I have a daughter who has very thick hair and the following is what we had to do in order to get rid of her lice.....
1. Treat hair with a lice treatment. Make sure to follow package directions and to do the egg removal also.
2. Clean all bedding, stuffed animals, jackets, coats, hats, scarves, hair accessories, carpeting, etc..
3. Items that can not be cleaned or put into the dryer need to be sealed in an air-tight bag for atleast 3 weeks. Do longer if lice is not all the way gone from hair or home to save yourself extra work.
4.Buy a Robi-comb from Walmart or anywhere that has them. Robi-combs are electronic combs that when used on dry hair shock and kill lice (not nits or eggs or really tiny lice). The comb makes a noise that stops when it is shocking a bug (or going through wet hair). We lay paper out and then brush the bug off onto the paper and squash it to death if not dead yet. Do this nightly after school until you are sure the lice are gone and then do it weekly when your kids come home from school.
5. Finally the most important steps to get rid of lice....use regular shampoo and wash (or completely wet down) your childs hair the day after treatment. Then sit down near a sink and put a thick coating of conditioner ( I use a thick conditioner that I buy at dollar general like Suave for $1) on your childs hair and start combing with a lice/nit comb. Wipe off on toilet paper after every swipe through hair. Rinse comb regularly. Make sure and do the entire head. Apply more conditioner if needed. Wash and Rinse out hair again. BLOW dry hair when done. Do this NIGHTLY until all eggs and nits are done.
Once I added step 5 we got rid of a huge lice problem that we had with our youngest child.
Oh yeah I wanted to say the Robi-comb does not hurt us.

Try the mayo again only this time put a ton of it in their hair and leave it in 4 hours with a plastic sack covering their hair. Then wash and comb w/ lice comb or a cat flea remover comb(this works really well and is cheap).
It might be that your girls are picking it back up at someone else's house or from another child if you are washing EVERYTHING. Ask the people your children come in contact with if they are having a problem. Make sure when you are treating bedding and the such, that you remove all stuffed animals. Put them in garbage bags, spray them heavily and then close the bags for a week. I know it will break a child's heart to be with their stuffed toys but the lice and eggs can be on there too. You have to remove them until the remaining eggs hatch and die.
The only other thing I have heard of killing lice is a perm but I do not know this to be a fact.

I know that tea tree oil kills adults and juvenile lice and 50% of eggs but if u retreat every 5 days for a couple weeks u will b good. Also, instead of mayo use Queen Helene's Cholesterol, its cheaper and thicker than mayo. U can get it at most drugstors and Wal-Mart. Plaster it all through the hair and gather the hair up on top of ur head, wrap with plastic wrap and leave on AS LONG AS POSSIBLE overnight is best. It smothers them and loosens the eggs to make it easier to comb out. Rinse it out good bfor combing and use a quality comb with spirals on the tines.

You need to cut your hair and their hair as short as possible. Then you need to go through their hair with the comb and take out as much as you can. After that, put the treatment on their heads and yours. Vacuum your ENTIRE house, wash all your bedding, and spray down your mattresses with the special spray they have for lice. Also vacuum your car, wash all clothes, and put all stuffed animals in air tight baggies and spray them down as well. After a week, take them out and wash them. Lice is a b*tch.

The products for your children's head will work if you also vacuum everything in your house, wash all the bedding, freeze any stuffed animals or toys that may harbor the lice. Don't forget your car! Most people don't remember that the car is also infected. It is an extremely labor intensive job, but you must get everything in your home and cars completely lice free...not just their heads.

You should try some shampoo that has medications in it, like Selsun Blue (the red bottle that says medications) and if that doesn't work then try red hair dye, so that no one can see anything on your head.

if you have used all those remedies and it didn't work then their clothes and or bedding must be infested too. you need to wash everything those kids have ever come in contact with including toys, etc, in the hottest water you can stand, and keep on using what the doctor gave you.
