Are you referring to the prohibition against eating meat on Fridays? That has nothing to do with the Bible. It was a Catholic church prohibition, Someone once told me it was for economic reasons in themiddle ages, to encourage the fish industry - I don't know if that's true or not. In any case, since they put the prohibition, they could define meat the way they wanted.

I think that's Catholic doctrine. They used to not eat meat on Fridays then they let fish in so people wouldn't complain so much (there's probably a more positive spin to put on that but you get the picture).
