Puppies just love to lick your hands. It's their way to show that they are happy to see you and be with you. As they get older, they control their emotions better. The only loving way I know to to discourage so much licking is to distract them. When they start to lick your hand, just tell them you love them too, but simultaniously move your hand away from their tongue and pet them on the head or back. Keep petting them until you appear to have satisfied their need for affection. Usually after a little petting they settle down, or move on to other interests. You can also throw a ball for them to chase, or put a leash on them and go for a walk. You can also look to kids for insights on how to deal with puppies. Kids are vulnerable in the sense that they don't know how to control puppies, but yet, none are licked to death. I think it's because kids like to pet them. The puppies get their fill of being petted (not much required usually) and move on. The kids move on too, after having been able to pet for a while. So, maybe trying to avoid the tongue and petting the puppy's head and back, then walking away, or tossing him something to distract him will have you on your way to controlling the licking in good time.

Don't just shout at him, whatever you do because he won't know what he's getting into trouble for, after all he's only a puppy. This problem won't just go away you'll need to address it as soon as possible. The best way to do this is to take a small water pistol(not a super soaker!) and every time he goes crazy with the licking just squirt him a little in the face and say NO!, after a while he'll get the hint and will eventually stop on the command NO!

It can be hard. Some dogs are just naturally kissers. My brothers dog will lick you to death if given the chance. She has a tongue that is like a giraffes (like a foot long) The best thing I can say is to scold him when he does it and do it the same way EVERY time he licks you. Eventually he might get it. good luck
