First, we need more troops in the area and we need to crack down on the borders. Second, the media needs to get out of the way. The media has a tendency of blowing things out of proportion and I have seen this first hand. When they do this our military leaders spend more time answering irrelevant questions when they should be more focused on the matter at hand. Also, the media puts out opinions/guesses as fact which causes the distress with the public. Which in turn breaks down support for the military and the government. Hm mm kinda sounds like Vietnam.
Third, the Iraq government needs to step up and take control of Baghdad and then move out until they have control of their country.

I was in the military and I think we were sent into a very bad situation. With Rumsfield and his buddys trying to prove that the Army could win with small quick forces and prove their neocon ideals right, the armed forces were sent into a situation that they really had no business being in the first place. If you look at the buildup to the war the only major dissenting voice was the only man that had substantial experience with war, Colin Powell. The neoconservatives theory about the new world order after the fall of communism and 9/11 hadn't been put to the test and they supremely believed in it and it has turned out to be completely wrong. The soldiers and marines do their job well, but they are fighting a limited war amongst people that would rather die killing each other over an age old beef instead of living peacefully with each other.

We say: OK...we tried to establish a democratic government for you Iraqis...but you won't pull your share of the load. So screw ya...all the towel heads in this whole country are not worth another American life.
Then we arm the hell out of the Kurds...tell them that all the country they take over, they can have. In six months, every single Iraqi will either be dead or will have gotten the hell out. The Kurds will have their new Kurdistan...which will be a very oil rich country that is very friendly to the US.

The whole problem has been around since the tower of Babel. The problem was really screwed up at the end of world war two, and NATO created Isreal, as it is today. Since then everone is pissed off, and no one really knows what to do...
My answer is to occupy, and annex it all into a new world alliance, so we can all cut this s#!- out.

It would seem appropriate to not be invading other countries, shock and awe style, to steal their oil, if you want them to like you.
American military should stay on American soil and quit bullying the world. The world can take care of itself, thank you. All that manpower, that the taxpayers are paying for, should be used for useful projects at home.

I served in two countries:
Solution: "Take the hell out of there just like they did in Vietnam", so they want screw anymore countless lives, both americans and Iraquis. Before that is done it's useless to talk about any other solutions.
