that was still under warranty but the main cercuit board went out. We have about $2,200.00 we can spend. What would be the best replacement TV we could get?

If size in no matter, i would recommend any one of these models. They are the best on the market for the price range you specified.
Mitsubishi WD-52631 52" DLP Projection
Sony KDS-50A2000 50" LCD Projection
Panasonic TH-50PX60U 50" Plasma
I would stay away from the Phillips that the previous poster advised. They dont make the best plasmas.

I have a 42" Phillips Plasma with "ambilight" which projects color onto the wall behind the TV. Its a really great feature and a great TV. It cost about 1,800 4 months ago.
