because the airline originated in Dallas,TX at Love Field. This was the airport for Dallas before the massive DFW airport was built between Dallas and Ft Worth. Southwest was able to negotiate favorable rates for spaces at Love Field because most of the air traffic was going to DFW. It is kinda catchy and is easy to remember.

Hold Southwest has been holding pretty steady on its shares staying around the same range for the past few months. I would hold and just collect the dividends. Although they are not that high (.0045/share) you should hold until the market shows definite signs on recovery and economic drive. Southwest is one of the leading airline industries as it is among the top on consumer's lists because of their great service and cheap prices. I believe their stock will go up as soon as we're out of this economic slump.
