A nice lady that I play softball with was telling me after the game about having these horrible nightmares ever since having an abortion in the early part of this year. They have been going on for months now....I can tell they were bad for her as she was literally trembling as she told me about them. She said they are really weird and have an almost "religious" feel to them, i.e dreaming of hell, judgement, being left alone, etc.... She says that she is afraid that she is going to "be paid back" for having the abortion (which she totally regrets now). Could the abortion have screwed up the chemicals in her body making her this way, or is there some other reason (tremendous guilt??)

It sounds like religion has screwed up the chemical in her body.

I'm with Yoda (below) on this one: you should understand that you're not doing your religion any good making up and spreading around stories like this. I used to believe that the antiabortion movement was sincere, but after years of these lies, I can no longer bring myself to believe that. You are the problem.

I've never been pregnant or had an abortion (which I am against), but I've heard some women say that they've had nightmares or regretted the abortion, and I've heard a few say that they've not had any repercussions. I think the majority tend to feel guilt, whether or not they are religious.

The guilt she feels is more than likely the effect of her abortion. The Spirit who was slotted to become her child has been rejected by her and may be casting ill-will towards her. She must come to terms with the wrong she has committed, and ask forgiveness from the spirit whom she was to give birth to. An event of this magnitude may have caused the spirit to become Obsessed over her, and this will continue until balance between them is restored.

Great story. Too bad none of it is true.
This is what is known as "pious fraud" and christians have been indulging in it forever.
They think that just because it makes a point they want to make, that lying for thier magic sky-pixie is ok.
It's not.

Shalom,

She has invoked the laws upon her or as it says, so shall you reap. Destroying a potential life invokes a lot of negative karma upon ones self but it can be balanced out if she actively starts fighting against abortions and telling others her experiences with to try to stop them from doing it also.

Peace

both of your probable answers are right in my opinion... the stress she is feeling is from knowing better to do what she did, and that was to be a sexual animal instead of an intelligent adult. she is suffering because she is probably still sexually active and is afraidd of pregnancy.. tell her to do and act by what she KNOWS TO BE RIGHT. then tell her to eat healthy, and take a b complex and multi vitamin supplement that is good. I recommend SHAKLEE PRODUCTS like the basic pak with the protien. she can call 1800 shaklee and use code # ch10411. try them for 30 days. they are guaranteed. and stick to her conscience..

That is one big sin! I truly think that you should find everything about repentance you can and try to help her to understand the saviors love for her. Once she understands about repentance and his atonement she will be able to work through her problem. One good book she could read is the miracle of forgiveness. I am LDS, so a good place to look for the book would be a LDS book store.
