That is certainly a double standard enforced by the US. However Iran does nothing to help it's cause with loud talk and threats it doesn't have any true friends on the security council like Israel has in the USA.

The presence of WMD in the world is like the story of the genii and the bottle -- once released, it is very hard to get it back in the bottle.
One good reason why there is world opinion against Iran developing nuclear weapons is that Iran does have a stated policy of eliminating Israel. This is seen as a willingness to use nuclear weapons. Almost all of the other nuclear powers see nuclear weapons as defensive or, at worst, counter-strike weapons. This is seen as being somewhat more acceptable.
Another reason is that whether the "Axis of Evil" exists or not, there is a possibility that Iranian weapons could be routed to terrorist organizations through sympathizers in the government or military. Note I am NOT saying that the Iranian government would be handing weapons to terrorists, merely that there are humans in the government who could subvert official government policy.
While a government may be hesitant to use nukes in a first-strike scenario due to the possibility of retaliation against its own people, a terrorist organization has no compunctions in that regard. Note the number of incidents in Iraq where insurgents were using unwilling human shields to cause Alliance forces to shoot civilians and then trumpet the cruelty of the Alliance forces.
Israel may or may not have nuclear weapons. There has never been any official statement or position on this point, Olmert's recent statement aside. Israel's current position is that if they did have nuclear weapons, they are present as a deterrence only. This "defense-only" position is seen as somewhat more acceptable as it provides for more options to resolve conflicts.
I agree that WMDs should be totally eliminated. Unfortunately, they do provide a power multiplier that make them way too atttractive to small organizations that are more than willing to use them with little thought for consequences.

iran won't in any respect very own nuclear weapons. the U. S. those days disagreed with a strike by the israelis. (article in final week's long island circumstances) yet there's no phantasm: interior the subsequent 2 years the iranians would be bombed at their nuclear web content. and the U. S. would be act on behalf of the israelis. and who cares, because of the fact the iranians unable to attain: they're in basic terms a community midsection ability with XIX century mentality and hands. and that they alwasy assumed that the anti semitist is better than their nuclear centers. for the period of the iraq iran conflict israel bombed down saddam nuke centers in approximately 20 minutes. regrettably it is going to take slightly longer because of the fact the iranians builds the objective 5 or 6 places around the rustic. frankly i'm deadly uninterested in this persian muslim sobbing that they are repressed and that they have perfect to construct something which makes the destruction of israel achievable. international locations with the comparable point of capacities, advancements are mendacity comfortable and take a glance at to make the lots of the cooperation.

UN like Israel Iran wants to hasten Armageddon and bring about the end of the world. Iran also does not need an energy source as they are saying the whole country sits on a virtual lake of oil. They do not believe the Holocaust ever happened and do not even recognize Israel as a sovereign country. Israelion the other hand just wants to have the right to exist the president of Iran actually said "we will wipe Israel off the map" now an empty threat of course it is Iran could never beat the Israeli armed forces BUT if they have Nukes they could sure do a heck of a number on that country. It would also be devastating for Iran as the Israeli government would respond with equal or (most likely) greater force so you see they (Israel ) are not a threat to world peace and the stability of the Middle east as a whole like a Nuclear Iran would be.

First is that Israel has had the Bomb for a long time now. they developed it before France I think. It was back before the UN was doing anything to control nuclear weapons.
Second, Israel is a secure country, not a rogue state like Iran. Israel has had the same government since it was declared a sovereign state. Iran changes government like we change underwear.
Third is we do not want any new countries getting the Bomb. Its a bad idea if there are to many out there. Especially a country that might actually use it!

When Israel starts threatening to wipe Iran off the face of the map, then we'll start talking about taking away their toys. Until then, they've joined the rational nuclear club.... Martyrs, rogue states and leaders don't strike me as safe for having their fingers on WMDs, maybe its just me.

Good question , what do you imply when you say the "world" is against Iranian weapons . Do you mean the international community led by US .
Then it is quite obvious that the 'world' will oppose the Iranian program and turn a Nelsons eye to Israeli weapons. Also Irans bomb is aimed at destroying Israel whereas Israeli bomb is a deterrent against any attack against it.

Israel has had the bomb for 40 years. They're not going to get rid of it until they are certain that none of the Arab countries that surround then will develop it.
As far as keeping quiet about it goes, Olmers slip of the tongue that Israel has the bomb came as a surprise to no one in the region.

Well as far as I am concerned the whole world should be cleared of WMD,not only the Arabs...
Well, unlike Iran,Israel has the blessing of US to own those weapons,so of course no one dares to do a thing about it...
How I love when I read that "Iran might use it against us"...Well Israel already used uranium bombs this summer in Lebanon,so as far as I am concerned Israel is a bigger threat than Iran right now...
