Army boot camp (BCT) is 9 weeks long. You'll have a hard time making it through BCT with bad knees. It's very physical and demanding, as well as mental. You'll have at least 3 PT tests and you're required to pass the final one. If you don't pass the first 2 however, there's alot of added pressure. Not to mention, there'll be at least one 15K road march with full pack. So, yes, you can make it through, but it'll be rough.

After that, you'll have to go to AIT. The length of that will depend on the MOS you choose. It won't be nearly as physically demanding as BCT.

EDIT: This is response to the reply below mine. There are NO stress cards for BCT. That was something they attempted some time ago and it didn't work. Also, you don't get electronics or any other personal items. My hubby has been out training as late as 2100 hours. There are rumors that Ft. Jackson has lowered their standards, but that's not the rest of the BCT locations. Your chances of getting that easy of a BCT are slim to none.

First, boot camp is in the Marines. Us Army folk call it basic. Basic training is 9 weeks long but plan on being there any where from 10 to 12 weeks because of inprocessing and reception. You also will have to pass a little physical test before you even get in to basic. It consists of 18 push-ups, 25 sit-ups, and a mile run which has to be completed in 9 minutes. Basic is not hard and Physical Training (PT) should not be a deterrent, the Drill Sergeants will easy you into the PT. (Please note I went to Basic in 1998 so the PT test might have changed a bit.)

Basic Combat Training is 9 weeks long. You'll spend at least a week before that waiting in line. You can make it through basic if you want to.

9 weeks and 6 weeks for AIT. You will make it through!! They won't let you fail, if you can't pass the PT test they'll make you stay until you can.. And yes you can make it with bad knees, though it might hurt. Good luck..
