Depending on the state or province u live in, the law varies. But generally speaking, police will not push for a restraining order unless your physical safety is definitely in jeopardy. However, i would DEFINITELY keep a log of every time he contacts u, follows u, or any other behaviour he uses that seems in any way threatening. Take that log to the police, and if need be, get a lawyer involved. hope this helps.

You can file in small claims court for a civil , no contact order. All you need is proof that the individual is contacting you against your wishes. If you have not sent a notarized, certified letter instructing the person not to contact you, then i would suggest doing it as extra proof, and once the person receives the letter that may be enough to let them know you are serious and stop before you are forced to go to court!!

If you live in a right to carry state then you should get a permit to carry a gun. You will need to go through a state approved training course and file fingerprints with the state. As long as you live in a free state (which rules out CA, NY, NJ, MA, and MD) and have not been convicted of a felony or domestic violence offense. In California you may be granted a concealed weapon permit if you actually have been threatened.

It depends on the laws in your jurisdiction. The US Supreme Court has ruled that certain words are "fighting words." If the other person used these it would be a violation. You obviously feel threatened. There must be a reason for it. Try your calling your local police department.

No, you can get a restraining order, but do you think this will stop him from doing anything? Might just piss him off, and give him the reason he needs to do whatever you think he might do.

You have to feel your life is in imminent danger. If you file a false restraining order the other person could sue you.
