Hi there...some cats will defecate 1-3 times a day, depending on their dietary intake and activity level.

Twice a day is not abnormal. I wouldn't worry unless there's blood or worms in her stool or it's diarrhea. Unless she displays new behavior (stress, continuous licking, not going in the litterbox) she probably just has a healthy appetite and therefore has a healthy waste amount. All cats are different and have different bathroom behavior. Canned cat food can cause cats to crap a lot (and it's a lot stinkier), or giving them new kind of food can also irritate their insides (cause diarrhea, vomiting, possibly excess waste). Maybe those extra treats you give just run right through her. If none of the above is a factor I believe your cat just has a healthy digestive cycle.

It's once a day around here. If she has a lot of waste in her system to eliminate it is most likely because she is eating inexpensive grocery store food which is universally 2/3 corn. The corn is not readily digestible nor nutritious for a cat and has to be eliminated from her body.

Use Solid Gold or Natural Balance for her food. Those both contain high meat protein and wholesome fillers such as brown rice. She will digest this better and will have less waste to eliminate.

I have four cats and am always amazed at the end of the day, when I go to clean the litter box, how many solid pieces there are. Of course, we feed them canned food in the morning and evening, and dry food is always available, so apparently a lot goes in that eventually comes out.

It doesn't sound like your cat is pooping an unusually large amount. The main thing to do is to keep the litter clean so he doesn't decide to do his business somewhere else. Then you will be posting new questions.

I agree with Seattle but wanted to add one thing. The type of food that they are on plays a large part in what comes out the other end. If they are on a 'cheaper' food that has a lot of fillers and not much nutrition, most of it turns into poo. (Think about what happens to you when you eat corn!!) I would suggest finding a food that does not list a grain as one of the first 5 ingredients. Royal Canin and Nutro are too good brands. Buy a sturdy scoop!! Hope this helps...

That's normal, I have three cats and I am constantly cleaning up after them. There is a type of cat food that is suppose to cause them to shed less as well as use the litter less. (I don't know what it is called, but they have it at petsmart) Also, I recently purchased a Litter-Maid (a motorized litter scooper) and I absolutely love it! They are about $85 , but worth every penny! With one cat, you would probably only have to empty it every 4-5 days.

that's an exceedingly nerve-racking element. Is it the flower beds or backyard that they objective? My wager is its her borders the cats are crapping in, her flower beds. the only sturdy way of deterring them is to mulch the soil with bark chippings - sturdy and thick around 2 inches - this additionally helps preserve moisture interior the floor and deters weeds so is worth it doing. Cats hate bark chippings - they'd't walk on it and can't dig in it. she will do lots of sturdy however by ability of squirting any cat she sees with water and vinegar answer - we shop an previous Fairy liquid bottle finished by ability of the back door and squirt any distant places cat no be counted if or no longer they are crapping or no longer. that's totally pleasing, completely humane and the main helpful element you're able to do (and costs nowt).

Much like people, it depends on what they're eating, how much they're eating, and their metabolism. I would determine the recommended amount of food she should be eating (based on age and size) and measure it out to see she's not eating too much. I would also consider the nutritional value of the food you're buying. Nutro is a good brand; I use Blue Spa Select because my cat has a sensitive stomach. If you're going to switch, do it gradually. Of course, if your cat's anything like mine, she could just really like using her litter box. It's one of my cat's favorite places to hang out, so she uses it a lot.

cats usually go twice a day. but if they are doing more then perhaps you should look into the food your serving. I know that canned food can make them go alot more . If it's a female cat it doesn't need canned just dry food. If male it only needs 1/4 cup of canned food a day then dry food for the remainder.

Maybe the only reason your cat craps alot is probably because you feed him too much and this is a warning don"t feed your cat too much soft food.
