i just want advantages and disadvantages of alterntaive software.

for example what are the alternatives to the Microsoft office suite?

and the alternative databases to Microsoft Access?

and why ultimately access and the microsoft suite are better choices?

I have office professional on a few systems but use openoffice on another, and this opens Access Files quite happily... Also it will open Word, PowerPoint etc... So, if you cant afford to pay get openoffice... Good luck...

I would definitely give OpenOffice a shot. I recommend it to all my clients and they are very happy with it. It includes all the programs you required in your post and it is free. And it will open all files created in MS Office.
