One addition. The late 70s was the last date of "manufacture". There was alot of vinyl flooring that was installed in 79-81. Some even later. Back rooms were full of the stuff.

Also note, if asbestos was present and not removed properly and new flooring was put down, that new flooring may now also be considered as ACM.

If you are not positive, get a licensed asbestos inspector (not a home inspector) to check it out.

1978. For all materials in residential use. I find that most early- and mid-1970s installations don't have any in the sheet goods themselves, but often have asbestos in the mastic used to glue it to the floor. Since it averages to well over 1% by weight, it counts as "ACM" (asbestos-containing materials) for contracting, worker-safety, and disposal regulations.
