Cat's don't like water! And if it's cold out side it may make them sick. If you do wash it, get pet shampoo and a lot of band aids for yourself.

Only wash your cat if there is a specific need for doing so. If you absolutely MUST give your cat a bath and don't have cat shampoo, you can use Dreft detergeant (a little goes a long way) in the water or a gentle shampoo such as Ivory, which rinses out easily and doesn't leave a residue. Stay away from the ears, eyes, and face being careful not to let the cat ingest the water. If possible, wash only the part of the cat that needs to be washed (such as the rear end). Make sure you towel dry the cat as well as you can or hold it in a blanket until it warms up and starts drying. Try not to use a blow dryer...they can really dry out the skin and if you're not careful you can burn the skin.

For those people out there who say NEVER give your cat a bath...there are cats that DO need help with their grooming because of age, health reasons, physical reasons, and situations beyond the animals control...

I have no idea why you would want or need to wash your cat and I would use a cat shampoo or a baby shampoo which wont' burn the cat's eyes if you get some in them.

Cats are the ultimate in clean animals and if they are healthy they will take care of all the grooming and "bathing" that they need on their own without help from humans.

NO! It leaves a chemical residue that the cat will keep licking while cleaning itself and sicken it. There are special shampoos for cats that will rinse thoroughly and avoid chemical reactions and stomach burns. NEVER wash a cat with a dog shampoo either. That can poison it.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Cats are very sensitive to the various scents and chemicals that are used in regular (human) shampoo. Go to the local pet supply store and get a good grade cat shampoo.

no, human shampoo is too harsh for their coat and skin. Human shampoo will dry their coat and skin out causing a lot of itching. I would go to the pet store and purchase some very mild pet shampoo that is ok for cats and kittens.

Yes you can. but she ( most of cats) will hate you for while. Use shampoo that made for cats. it is very important because their skin and coat must be kept in certain pH. that is different from human. Protect yourself when cat goes crazy. She might attack you. I always wear thick rubber globes to shampoo my cat. Good Luck!

yes her coat will be a little fuzzy though, with the cat shampoos it detangles and reduces fuzziness instantly it also rids them of any fleas or ticks that they may have. If your cat doesn't have this problem than you can wash it with regular shampoo.

Definitely. Be Cautious though. We washed my cat a couple times w/ little kid shampoo, and it was fine, but once they smelll like blueberries( or whatever the shampoo smells like), they will lick themselves for 30 min.- 60 min. - longer until they smell like butt again. But they will be cleaner.
