Make sure your computer is clean first. Use the programs below.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:
- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

These two will really help...

Download CleanUp---http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/

Free disk space, make your computer run better/faster and protect your privacy - all in one easy solution. All for free!

Download RegScrubXP--http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2048

Safely cleans junk out of the Windows 2000/XP system registry. All changes made to the registry are fully restorable to it's original condition. You can make an exclusion list of registry entries that RegScrubXP will not display as problems. You can sift through a list of file extensions, company names, run upon startup programs, Internet Explorer history, and uninstall programs to delete what you think is junk.

Finally do a disk cleanup and disk defrag. You can get to both of them by...

Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Cleanup

Follow the same path and do a disk defrag.

Check your PC for spyware, spyware will slow it down.

Both of these are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Go here http://majorgeeks.com/

And on the left side of the page you will see drive cleaners, download CCleaner, after you do this run the scan for issues and the fix problems. Then click on cleaner and this will clean any temporary files that Windows keeps in your computer, they just slow your computer down.
This should help speed your computer up some. This website is a free ware site and it has tons of free software to download, it is safe as they test it before it is posted for download so it is ad-ware and spyware free.

Run system clean out defragmate for one thing--go to start--programs--accessories-system tools and Defragemate and run it. Also follow same track for Scan Disc and do a clean out, run Anti virus program in regular mode and again in soft mode in case there some virus hidden in there some where, delete cookies, history file Like go to Tools --Internet Options and clean out all history, cookies and everything. Make sure all your Anti Virus and/or spy ware programs are up to date. That's about all I can say with now more evidence than posted Good Luck
