I am so sick of you crazy zealots saying it's not true when the evidence points to the fact it IS! Here in England, the climate has been SIGNIFICANTLY changing:
http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,,1971637,00.html
Anyone who doesn't notice that this autumn and winter (and last autumn and winter) became cold much later is clearly just distracted by other things or something - because it si OBVIOUS.

And I HATE those of you who say we've been wrong before so we're probably wrong this time - isn't that also a reason for NEVER DOING ANYTHING???? Or NEVER disproving scientific theories (because we've already been wrong so we probably are again...)
PLUS - 'it may be natural variation, which has happened a lot before' - yes, the earth can vary itself and survive but NOT NECESSARILY with humans surviving... Why the hell would the earth care about us surviving? If there was another ice age, I expect we'd all be pretty fucked. Or at least a lot of us.

And one more thing - EVEN IF WE ARE WRONG - isn't it better to be safe than sorry? If we carry on going the way we are, people COULD DIE. In fact the whole human race COULD DIE...

Are you prepared to risk that just so that you can have your own diesel guzzling car, keep all your lights on and not recycle?
You're just f*cking lazy, admit it.

And oh God, please don't start goin on about how the earth's not warmer in some places... 'Global WARMING' is just a name, the general pattern is that weather conditions are getting more extreme.

Think about all the famines, tsunamis, hurricanes etc in recent years - There are quite a few more than yrs before. Or does it not matter when it's not personally affecting you?

And why do people say it's a government conspiricy and yet don't question everything else the government says half as thoroughly?? Hypocrites. Especially if you're religious - it's a helluva lot easier to believe in global warming than the Bible.

It's easy: Close eyes to the evidence and yel "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" as loud as possible. Continually.

Creationists do it all the time.

The earth is warming up fractionally.

The winters have not been that bad here in New England the past several years.

One reason the cold is starting later is the fact that the polar ice cap is getting smaller, and there for it is taking longer for the cold to build up in the Artic before it moves south.

The Bible has an explanation for that. When God created the earth it had an ice shield (when God separated the water above from the water that was under). The whole planet was tropical (they found woolly mammoths with tropical food in their stomachs) because the shield blocked out harmful sun light plus it gave us twice the air pressure and oxygen levels (taken from amber). But when the shield collapsed during the flood in Noah's day, it mostly came down on the poles (ice at -300 F has a magnetic property. That is why the glaciers from the "ice age" is centered around the magnetic poles, not the axis). It has been melting back for the last 4,500 years (the less ice there is, the faster it will melt).

Global warming is happening but the question of why is hotly disputed. The earth has gone through periods of drastic climate change throughout it's history and the fact that the planet is becoming warmer at the moment may or may not be because of mans industrialisation and rabid use of fossil fuels. The CO2 levels in our atmosphere today are not significantly higher than levels reached anytime during our history and scientists have been warning of an impending ice age for as long as I can remember. You're right about the earth not caring about mans survival but there is nothing we can do to alter the natural rhythms of climate change. All we can do is try to adapt to the changing weather and hope we survive.

Oh, and if you don't want to have intellectual debates, stop asking complex questions. Tw@t

The reason some people deny global warming is happening is down to two things:
1. They make money from selling petrol and other commodities that cause global warming
2. The earths temperature naturally changes anyway - Greenland is called as such because when it was found it was green and lush - not bitterly cold like today! the Thames used to freeze over every year in the 15th century? but not in Roman days. and other changes in the temperature have happened.

The science behind it is strong however but my opinion is that we are naturally warming up anyway (not including the effects of carbon emission's) hence why we have seen drastic changes in the last 15 years. It could get cooler again or it may all be down to global warming the problem is we are taking a big risk!

Apparently the Earth historically has gone through cyclical phases of warming and cooling. An approximate phase of 300,000years has been detected by looking at the isotopic ratios of oxygen., with mini phases in between. The point is the system has always returned to equilibrium. There exists the possibility that due to increased CO2 emissions we may drive the system into 'catastrophic' or 'runaway' mode, where climatic change could be a serious risk to all life on the planet. Why take the risk?

Some of the answerers here confirm my perspective on this issue. They make up fictitious claims just to support their beliefs. For instance Greenland, when discovered, was in reality not at all green meadow as it was depicted from some answerers. It was named Greenland because the pioneers landed on a shoreline where grass grew eg just a small portion of a great land filled with snow and ice. And now the ice cap has stopped increasing like it should have in the past, if it wasn't because of the warmer air and warmer oceansurface.
I advice anyone to watch Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. It is impossible for Gore to fabricate all of the facts happening on this earth.

In spite of your professed hate global warming has been +.02 degrees over the past 100 years.
Did you know the worst Atlantic hurricane season was in the 1930's?

Before you fly off look at the weather history of the world - it is a concern that must be addressed but it is a situation currently being used for political buzz more than anything.

Your language undermines your credibilty.

I don't deny that the earth is getting warmer. What I do question is if it's that unique a thing for the earth to be doing. If you look at temperature charts for the last couple billion years, there have been a few times when the earth's average temperature has been much, much higher than it is predicted to be from all this global warming,

The last period of world wide glaciation (expansion worldwide of glaciers) ended in 1920. and there has been since then rebound heating of the earth.
The current level of Co gas in the atmosphere is 3.85% which in terms of geological history is not really very high.
There are inter millennial cycles of heating and cooling and it is the cooling cycles that are more devastating to the human and animal population.
Increased sea levels and warmer climates increase bio-diversity especially in the oceans.

My name is Rafael Lomena. I write from Alicante (Spain). I am independent investigator on the Accelerated Global Heating and want to share with all something that can turn out from interest to fight this phenomenon.
I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm
If they do not understand the Spanish they can use the automatic translator that will find in the main page of site:

There is global warming. Our moron president will go down in history as the single worst president who did the most damage to the earth.

Are people really so god damn ignorant that they do not see what is happening to the planet, the people, and the animals.

People chop down the rain forest. People kill elephants for their tusks. Humans are inherently evil.
