You can apply for a special license ( a regular gun-dealer's license won't do). They'll run a check and inspect your house. This license allows spot checks, so expect a couple of BATF agents to drop by about every three months to make sure you're playing by the rules. (Your license gives them the right to come in, so they don't need a search warrant.)
Or you can do it the illegal way, and all bets are off. Fortunately, there are far more automatic weapons in the armories of Hollywood studios than there are in the hands of criminals.

Dealers won't bring in full auto weapons unless you get the federal permission to own one this cost about a hundred dollars last time I checked. The other way is to modify the gun their are sites that will tell you how. You can buy full auto pistols like the M1911A1 already the real question is can you pass a background check.

You have to get permision from the BATF pay a $200 tax for the Class III stamp. Go through a background check that is more invasive than a colonoscopy, get approval of your county sherriff and after about a year shell out 15+ grand for a full-auto weapon,

The key word in that question was smuggles. If you want to break the law then by all means help yourself. If you get caught don't you dare act shocked like you did nothing wrong. What could you possibly need a fully automatic weapon for?

They are actually easy to get if you do it by the law. Go to the dea's website, apply for a dealers license. If you are approved you can buy just about any type of weapon. Stay legal, we have enough crime in the world with out illegal gun purchases. It gives those of us who enjoy shooting, playing, and collecting weapons a bad name and a bad rap.

Word has it that you can go to the corner of Lombard and **** street in south Baltimore and buy *anything*.
Personally, I would rather have an idiot with an automatic weapon spraying bullets at me than someone who has practiced one shot at a time. There is no reason to own a fully automatic weapon. Anyone who can't take a deer down with one shot needs a different sport.

If you have an illegal machinegun, and get caught plan on at least 10 years at a federal supermax, you will share you comfy cell with 3 deranged killers who will use you like a Tijuana 2 peso streetwalker.
