This is when the instinct kicks in. It may not at all be intentional, but women prefer men who can protect them. It's part of our survival instinct we've picked up over the past million years or so, lol. Woman gentle and caring, man strong and fit. Of course we do tend to sway off that path and fall for the shorter, or thinner, or scrawny types, as personality certainly plays a huge factor in the opinions of many women (like us; my husband's 2" shorter, lol, although I am 6').

AND I RESPOND:

AND I ASK WHAT DO WOMAEN NEED TO BE PROTECTED FROM? IF YOU BELIEVE IN GOD AND ARE ALL LOVING WHAT DO WOMAN NEED TO BE PROTECTED FROM? PERHAPS THEIR OWN SELFISHNESS?

Yup, you did miss the whole point. And the Muslimah was right. It is known women do tend to look for a man who looks like a fit father for their furture children. It's the law of the jungle and biologically defined that way
If you would take an interest in Isam, you would know men are protectors of the women. If we like it or not, there are differences between males and females. And a man is supposed to take care of his wife, to provide for her and her children, to protect her from harm.
Personally, that idea is very appealing to me.Women need protection from all kind of things, even me as a Western lady can see that. I do not know where you are from, but i sure feel secure and safe when i go visit a g/f and my husband comes to pick me up after an evening of fun. Cause i do not feel safe walking the streets alone. Even if i do not dress provacatively, i've had problems alone at night more than once.
Just one little example.
so it's just that in my belief,God created men and women differently. They both have different roles, simple as that!
Btw, that does defenitely not mean that a shorter guy cannot protect his lady just as well and for me, most importat part is not the looks, but what's inside!

Like I said, it's instinct. Society taught women that they are weak, sheepish, and NEED that man to protect them. Nowadays society teaches us to be strong and independant, however we sometimes still tend to hang on to those little things from the past that were engraved into our minds for thousands of years. It's all a matter of changing and adapting to the new way women stand out, and being attracted to a scrawny guy with an outstanding personality happens to be something we're catching on to, and you are an example of that, so be proud!

Worrying so much about what other women do will only cause you to become stressed and annoyed and who needs that in their life? I could say a million things about Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton (two of the most popular "role models" for little girls these days), however I know I don't need that and will do much better focusing on teaching my own future daughters (God willing) how a real woman behaves.

Holy cow, it's just animal behavior. Females in species that mate for any length of time and where the female carries the young prefer bigger mates. The ones that preferred smaller mates died off because at some point in the dark past of some animal, larger animals of that species would come along and kill the male and his offspring and steal the female. The "prefers larger mate" gene has a competitive advantage and tended to dominate (by the mechanism I just described). I don't know in what animal this behavior evolved but it's pretty common.

If you want to see it in action go watch elephant seals on the beach.

There's been no particular reason in the course of human evolution to rewire that particular instinct. It has never been a particular competitive advantage for women to prefer smaller men and given the way society tends to mute advantage, it probably never will be.

Ladies don't prefer taller men as much as men look for shorter women to fill their inadequacies. Let's not play the blame game and start another because-women-want-it crap.

mike patton told me to tell you to that the muslim lady is right, and that you are bashing her for no reason. you attack her for pointing out an instinctual human preferance- she is not saying that women need to be protected from anything. you are reading what you think into this, and you must have some stored anger towards muslim people.

if you are secured then you pass this feeling to the woman who you with.

this tall short thing is a media image thing. and even though i am not that tall, there are women who feel secured with me, and i don't see my height as an issue. Robert deniro or Tom aren't that tall either.

You are a rude person. some women like taler men because they feel safe with them. other because they love the thrill of danger. there are women that like shorter men. your question is foolish and hatfull to women.
