It totally depends on the the usage. Optimum memory for an XP system is 256 Mb to be fair if you are using only desktop applications. You can work comfortably with applications like MS Office, CD/DVD writing s/w, and those flash games. Try 512 MB if you need to see some good performance. But again, 512 MB wont be enough for high end gaming. I have a 1 GB RAM and allocated 256 MB for the video memory, but still some of the heavy-duty games dont work like the way how it should !!!

The only way to increase your memory is add new hardware. Dont dream of any softwares that will do that !!

Yeah, I'd agree that 512MB is pretty much the least amount of RAM you should have for running XP smoothly, and 1GB if you're intending to play any games.

As for how to increase your RAM, you need to buy more RAM and install it inside your machine, that's the only way to increase the amount of physical RAM you've got.

with 127 mb, it crawls, with 256 it tries to run, with 512 it looks ok,


all this Iam talking with all ur softwares loaded,

so optimum is 512.
