This will get better in time. I had this same operation except on my right knee about 3 years ago. The first 24-36 hrs. will be the most uncomfortable, but remember everyday the discomfort will get better. Your surgeon should have given you post op instructions as to when you should start getting up and trying to move that knee a little. Remember, right now your joint and all surrionding tissues/muscles are swollen....this will take time to heal. Just stay comfortable with your pain medication if they gave you any and remember to try to shift that leg every so often. Trying to at least sit up on the edge of the bed and letting it move a little will keep the blood flowing. Also remember to keep it elevated with pillows or something.
In a few days the worst part will be over and you can start on the road to recovery!!

I have left knee arthroscopy on my left knee last year. After a couple of days of healing, I constantly started exercising it as far as it would go in either direction, but not to the point of pain. Even while sitting down, the leg would be bending and stretching. The limits will increase as time goes on. The crutches lasted about three days and the limping ran about another 10 days. Three sessions with an occupational therapist taught me how far to push it and how to regain movement. Your mileage will vary, of course, depending on the extent of your surgery. In my case, a small torn flap of inner meniscus had to be cut away. Do not despair and keep moving that knee.

hey Kay G, my friend had a left(?) knee arthroscopy two years ago and she felt the same way for maybe two weeks. After she rested her leg , and with physical therapy, she healed completely and her knee is fully functional. You should be fine. good luck.

I know the feeling, but don't worry, it will. Just makes sure you do all your physical therapy. The first thing they'll start you on are exercises to get the full range of motion back in your leg. They're very effective.
