lol.. its called beignets pronouced (BEN - YEAYS)
and its Cafe Du Monde in the french quarter who serves them.
Also.. theres a place called "Morning Call" whos just like Cafe Du Monde.. i prefer them. Morning Call use to be located in the French Quarter.. maybe around the 1940s ? not sure. But had been relocated to a city just a few min away from New Orleans called Metairie. both have been around about the same time.. over 100 - 150 years.
http://www.cafedumonde.com/main.html
i couldn't find Morning Call's website .. eh well

The original french donut or "the beignet" pronounced "ben yea" is called Cafe Du Monde' and was opened in the French Quarter. It now has satellite cafes opened around the New Orleans area and in local shopping malls.
Another competitor of this truly wonderful fattening bad for your health bliss is called Morning Call located on Severn Ave., in Metairie, La. near Lakeside Shopping Mall.
Got eat 'em hot 'cause they are no good cold! Unlike pizza after a hangover.
