Both of my cats do that- it's funny as heck to watch. They get mad at me when I laugh by butt off at them though.
My aunt's cat started licking her fur off when my grandpa died- so if there have been any big changes in her life (family member died or moved away, or maybe you just moved or added a person to the household, etc), it could just be her way of coping with the stress.
But if nothing like that is going on and she's been cleared for fleas/ticks/etc, she's probably fine- just being silly. :)

Hi, I use to have a cat and I saw him doing that many time I think it is a form of recreational activity for them even though they may have toy or a friend to play with even us as human then to do some silly things and we have friend to play with face it he is normal he is just having some enjoyable times.

It does seem odd that your cat has only just started doing this, but I'm sure it is nothing for you to be worried about. My kitten does this, and like yours has plenty of toys and excercise when we play ball with her. It is always amusing to watch her, and when she is successful and "catches" her tail she starts grooming it!!

My cat sounds like yours. It's normal, it's just away of playing. I think it's funny to watch as well. Just sit back and enjoy the fun, don't worry!

for sure it is no madness, it does not have to indicate fleas or something. Cats often do it for fun, as the tail is almost all the time in move

Cats do that a lot. It's funny and cute, nothing to do with madness. It's a game! My cat did it for a period of time, now he prefers to play football!
