Well, when I got mine done, they gave me not one, not three, but 6 shots to both sidesof my mouth. After they removed them, and stitched up, I was told not to smoke for at least anothr week. It's tough to eat anything, so make sure you get soft foods, like jello, noodles (don't slurp because it can lead to dry socket, which HURTS so very very bad).

After the initial removal of the teeth, it won't hurt to eat, but I remind you that soft stuff is HIGHLY recommended.

When you brush your teeth, make sure that you don't rub your stitches in the slightest way.

Sleeping at night, is not tricky at all. However, you want to make sure that you:
A) Have an extra pillowcase to as not to get blood on your pillow
B) If you don't have extras, then you can always take a wet washrag/ wash cloth folded up and you bite down on that for a whole week during sleep.

Blood will leak out continuously for 5-10 days, so you'll always have the taste of blood. If you ask your dentist, they should have this little syringe-type object without the needle where you fill it with warm water to rinse out GENTLY your stitches to get food out so as not to aggravate your mouth, or become infected, etc.

After about 2 weeks, the sutures/ stitches may dissolve completely at which point you should take extra precaution from eating harder foods for another 5 days so you can ensure that your tooth sockets don't risk dry socket.

It's really not as bad as you'd think. I had 4 inpacted wisdom teeth removed. When you get there, you'll get laughing gas and probably an IV and will be put to sleep. You'll be pretty out of it when you wake up, and won't feel much pain. I'd say I was stuck at home for 2-3 days, and could eat normally again after 4-5 days. Milkshakes, jello, oatmeal, and icecream are good to eat.

Get another opinion!!!! When I was 14 I was told that all of my wisdom teeth had to come out. I opted not to because of money, but, they all grew in straight and natural. What a lot of dentists do is bet that you won't do the research and just do what they recommend. One of them tried it on me and I want you to go to someone else for another opinion.

The first couple of days will be rough but you should be given meds to help you cope with the pain. You will probably need 2 days off after the surgery. The best advice I can give you is don't talk too much for the first 48hrs. That will speed up your recovery alot.

Wait until its completely healed especially if you don't use a condom for oral sex. It's fairly common for foodstuffs to get lodged in tooth sockets after extraction and cause infection, so it wouldnt really be nice to have semen floating around in there either! Seriously, It's not adviseable to have oral sex with any kind of cut or lesion in your mouth, so wait until your completely healed up before you attempt to give any oral sex.... I have to say though, I do like the token idea of recieving for a while instead... maybe try that and enjoy yourself whilst you heal!

are you going under general or sedation? You will need someone to drive you, because you will be pretty dopey. Your mandible and Maxilla will be realy sore for several days if not weeks, You wont be able to eat solid food for awhile and it will be good to get plenty of rest afterwards. Don't expect to go back to work or school for a few days. Good luck!!

Go to a specialist and you won't feel a thing.... seriously. Usually an every day dentist won't do justice to your mouth, but a specialist will definitely make you a happy person. Today it shouldn't hurt a bit ... especially with a specialist. Remember to do EXACTLY what they instruct you to do after the procedure, it'll make life easier. And, have ibuprofen available at home.... believe me, after their prescription runs out you'll be glad you had it (advil). good luck and be well, Jack

Its different from person to person. I ate a hamburger the next day and had all four of my teeth out at once, but my brother was in pain for two or three days and would only have soup/oatmeal.

Yes, you will be really sleepy from the pain pills, and your cheeks will get pretty swollen. You'll be droolin a lot. Just be REALLY careful to eat soft foods only!!! Or you will get some nasty dry sockets. Make sure you have someone to drive you home.
