if you're referring to clicking a file (single-click as opposed to the usual double-click to open a file), in Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options. In the General tab, you will see a section, "Click items as follows" select "Single-click to open an item (point to select)". You can also choose to "Underline icon titles consistent with my browser" or "Underline icon titles only when I point at them", then click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Will not work in Win95.
