Then he calls you five days later and tells you we are just taking a short break. I know he doesnt want to waste my time and the marriage issue is pressuring him. Only because he knows it is the right thing to do. On top of it I have to kids for him to take on. I thought it was over now he calls and says we are just taking a short break. We talk by email everyday still.

it sounds like a couple of things,, that he cant make up him mind,, and that he wants to be single while keeping you on hold,,,,,, i would tell him that you have broken up,,,, and you are now single,, and he can let you know if in the future he is serious about getting back together with you,,,,,,, if your not together, you are broken up,,,,,, there really isnt a "taking a break " category,,,,,,,, if you do decide to get back together with him, i would seriously consider it and make some ground rules,, as in next time he needs a break, its over ! for good

He is trying to figure out what he is feeling. That's a good thing.
After things settle down, give him a deadline for him to ask for engagement. Tell him you have 2 kids and can't wait around for something that might not happen with him. Engagement is another test of your love and devotion for each other.

Give him his space. Leave him alone for a while. Don't contact him unless he contacts you, and when he does, don't jump to answer his attempts to contact you. Don't answer his e-mails - wait a day or two to.
After about a month, if he still isn't giving you the attention you deserve, start dating other people again.

Hmmmm....usually a short brake does mean your not together maybe he just needs a little time to think

maybe he just needed time to think by the sound of it he had alot to take on just give hes space to think and things will probally work out fine

that sounds like he wanted time to be unfaithful without the guilt so if it ever comes up he can say you guys were not together guys are dogs who knows what he was thinking about you should ask him what his reason was then draw your own conclusion to that cause that sounds weak
