I've been learning tkwando on and off for about 12 years now. While sparring has loads of rules, street fights hav no rules. Just 100percent raw power in yr attacks. But what happens if yr leg is caught by an opponent. (while kicking)
How to counter and how to react?

Talk with your Sensei, there are many ways to combat a leg catch...one of which is to be faster in your kick and recovery. If you caught...try feigning a punch and kick at their knees with the free foot. If you miss you might be able to drag them to the ground removing their advantage....but that is something to be discussed with an experienced Sensei who can show you multiple moves from the disadvantaged point you placed yourself into....

No, leg catching isn't dirty when we're talking about a street fight. If a kick is delivered by a grand master who in their right mind would want to even attempt to catch it? Try catching a kick delivering over 1500lbs per square inch of power with incredible speed to boot. Don’t understand what I’m saying? Then stand behind a horse elicit a response from the horse well you get my meaning now, right? If your kick can be caught then you need to reconsider a whole lot of factors. Kicks within themselves generate more power than punches and can generally be just as fast as flying fists. Depending on your skill, and experience level along with your abilities to generate power, speed and accuracy dictates the overall outcome. Generally a good rule of thumb is to attempt to dodge and maneuver out of the way of a superb kick attack and setting up (steering) your opponent either away or into your reaction. If we’re talking from a grandmaster perspective in a violent manner kicks aren’t caught it’s just as simple and plain as that unless you’ve ever ‘duked’ it out with a grandmaster with over 30 years of extreme training then you have no idea. As far as Korean TKD is concerned the martial concept is to finish the fight with one powerful action or reaction. Catch that kick and you may have also caught yourself a broken arm, wrist, and or rib cage. Not to mention dislocated shoulder, damaged pelvis area, ruptured internal organs the list goes on.
The novice fighter against the novice fighter then sure it's very possible that leg catching will occur.
Let’s just say that if your leg is caught it depends on the position you’re in at the time the kick has been captured. One thing is that now your opponent is either left with hands busy holding your leg and foot and or is left with one hand and either side of the torso busy holding. You on the other hand have two free fists and one leg free. But one thing is definitely for certain, you have just under a second to both recoil and attack.

Only two of these answers bear any merit in a real life or in any type of alive combat.

1) kick faster and recover
and
2) clinch

There are other thigns you can do to prevent a kick catch or to punish someone who does decide to kickcatch you.

Aim lower, aim at the legs, so that if he were to catch it, he would either have to bend down or reach all the way, in which case he's in a very bad position to defend punches to the head and you can ground your foot very easily so at to avoid the catch.

If you're aiming for body and he catches it, bend the leg immediately and come in close with punches, even as you try to ground the leg. This will usually cause him to not have the time to do anything constructive with the leg, and then give it up so as to defend his face.

And just pray you're never fighting a San Da guy or a Wrestler.

As proven by the UFC and other mixed martial art contests, if your leg is grabbed by an opponent, you will probably end up on the ground. So learn some grappling and save the high kicks for the dojo, not the street.

Too much of the movie watching? Dirty Fighting? Lucky if someone can do anything but bite and kick lol The fights I've seen looked comical they were so clumsy and childish. What isn't funny is that unlike the movies the human body breaks real easy and people get hurt. It's all so frickin foolish, let go of the fantasy.

Muay Thai catch kicks all of the time and consider it normal. Most would simply try get in clich and pulls leg away or try to use their hands.

That's why TKD kicks got no respect. They lack the power to punish opponent and their leg is too easy to catch. If they get their leg catch, they usually have no idea what to do.
