Get yourself a piece of paper, write down what you don't like about him and what you love about him, any bad habbits? MIstreating you? Putting you down just to boost his ego? Or he's just not caring enough, for some of my friend, just being poor alone is the good enough reason for them to break up with thier boyfriend.
1)Write a list of him crimes & his cute side.
2) Evaluate for yourself why you want to break/ or stay.
3) Keep in view, observe him. Is he doing this to everyone or is it only towards you ?( His bad behaviour.)
4) You can choose to stay or go, but pls stick to your decision. Be firm in your decision.
Good luck to you , hope you would look from a third party's shoe when you are looking at his faults, or you will be blinded by love.

The choice is yours. U may continue your relationship with him if U think U could help him change. However, if U think U are unable to tolerate his bad conduct, by all means U could leave him. No big deal, he is only a friend.
