He probably doesn't like the brand of treats you're trying to give him. Most cats are finicky about what they eat, and it sounds like Garfield is one of them! Since you would really like to give your cat treats try different brands and see if it perks his interest. There are so many different kinds that you'll probably find one he likes. I feed my cats Whiskas Temptations and now they won't touch any other treats. Or maybe try some cat milk - you can buy it at your local pet store and give that to him as a treat (not the milk we get for ourselves at the grocery store though - that's bad for them). There's tuna flakes, or if you've just about tried everything there's always catnip! Give away the treats he doesn't like to another cat owner if you feel like you're wasting them.

If all else fails then your cat is just a lover without the extra appetite. A good scratch under the chin and a kiss on the head is enough treat for him. Good luck!

Most of the cats I've been around or owned don't like cat treats either. .

Sometimes we forget that animals are individuals. They have individual likes, dislikes, and indifferences. Your cat is an individual that is not impressed with cat treats.

It's not important that your cat eats cat treats. It's important that you have ways to reward him. And you do--you can show him attention. And other ways might be toys like cat teasers--those balls of feathers on a string and pole. Most cats love them. And most, but not all, cats enjoy catnip, so there's another reward you can use.

How did you think of the name Garfield? That's a good one.

My cat doesn't like treats either, she just likes to chase a laser. My other cat loved treats.

Some cats don't like Scooby Snacks (as I call them). Only 2 out of my 3 cats like them. The one that doesn't never has and he probably never will.

Reward him with lots of affection. It's clearly what he prefers over the snacks ;-)

Your cat is very bright: he has a high cat IQ and a high cat EG...he works for being petted!
But also he may not like the "artificialness" of the treats." Give him real food...isn't that what you like?

Cats are like girls, they worry about getting fat. But it also may be that your cat just doesn't like the ingredients. My five cats really like the tuna flavored Pounce treats. They don't like things like Salmon or chicken.

Maybe you should try giving him small chicken samples or turkey. Just because your cat doesn't like treats, doesn't mean you can't reward them.
Good Luck! :-)

sounds like you have a happy fat cat who is completely satisfied with his regular diet lol. if you haven't already, try a little bag of those dried anchovy / pilchard fishies...often even the fussiest cats will munch on one of those :-)
