Because they are trying to be nice, or at the time they thought that they would call you, but screw them! they are prob. just a dog anyways!

They might ask you for it so they can call you and maybe they have lost the number and can't find it. It has happened to me before. ANd now they are afriad to ask you again thinking that you might be mad at them because of them not calling you. But if you have their number give them a call or if you see them ask them that you must have been out when they called you and if he lost the number he will ask for it again. If not move on and forget him.

To be polite and try to boost your confidence, all the while never planning on calling again. Or maybe he/she really wanted to call, but lost your number before they got a chance. Maybe they will tell you that they lost your number so as not to hurt your feelings, when they really tossed that shiz out the window of a moving car on the way to nail his/her ex. Just a thought. don't let it get to you. Fish in the sea and all.

I don't know. Maybe the date wants to have time to think some things over. He or she will probably call in the next 3 to 4 days. I used to do stuff like that. Hey but don't wait on her to call you, find her or something.

Just keeping up the facade - making it look good. Nobody wants to end a date being told "I had a terrible time. You're weird, and I never want to see you again" They were probably just being polite. Move on. You've already spent too much time thinking about someone who doesn't have the energy to dial a phone.

They were being polite by asking for the number...they must have not thought the date was all that great.

Maybe they haven't got around to it. They are too nervous to ring. If you have their number why not give them a friendly ring. See what their response is. You could ring and casually mentioned that you enjoyed yourself at the (wherever it was) the other night and see how it goes from there. Good luck

how did you get a date without a number? give him some time, sime guys wait 5-9 days to call! if it was a girl, she does this to spare your feeling if you asked for her number, most likely she won't call. good luck.

Could be couple of resons, either they really intended on calling but things happened in their life that changed that... a new relationship or even just misplacing it.
Or they asked for it so that you would not feel rejected maybe just trying to be nice?

Two valid reasons.....a. they were being polite but not interested and b. they are messy and/or disorganized and either misplaced the number or forgot to call. I would side on a. but if they dressed messy, didn't shave and wore gym shoes it could be b.
