How much money does he have and what does he need the car for?
For commuting, buy a Japanese car. They are easy on the gas, and breakdowns of cpmponents is low.
For safety, pick the Korean cars, or European cars.
For overall reliability in all weathers, an all wheel drive or front wheel will be appreciated by every driver, not just a guy.
For looks, its individual preference.
There are too many boys strutting around their sporty looking imports. But then somewhere in the male psyche is an image need to be filled by these cars.
Choose well, pick the one that calls your name.

If you are somewhere with cheap gas and low insurance, get an old stationwagon. Put the rear seats down and put a mattress, with quilt or sheets in there. Lots of room to move stuff and if you are at a party drinking, you got a place to sleep.
If Gas is exspensive then I would recommend a SEAT or VW, just not a Golf. Golfs are known for tuning and insurance would can be quite costly.

get a small car os small pickup, used, and at around 6+ years old.have it as something you can pay off quickly,so you can drop the collision insurance as soon as you have the title. i know itll suck but look at a 4 cylinder,or small 6.the more powerful, the more youll pay in insurance
