The Jews, by and large (but not all), have not recognized the twofold coming of Messiah, first as the sacrificial Lamb of God and secondly as the reigning King of kings and Lord of lords who will set up His throne on in Jerusalem and rule the earth. They basically only see the second coming of Jesus and so do not recognize the validity of the first... but that is about to change!

Qualifier: I am not Jewish, but...
The word "messiah" (as I understand this) in the time of Jesus meant "he who will lead the Jews out of occupation by the Roman Empire". Jesus didn't do that. Also, the part about the resurrection and the "virgin" birth (virgin meant "young girl" at the time and not "never had sex") was added AFTER Jesus was crucified, written in the Gospels which were written DECADES (20 years, 40 years, 60 years, and 80 years) after Jesus's death - in different places (4 different cities around the Eastern Meditteranean) and reflected the times in which they were written. The earliest ones were "apocalyptic" and reflected the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. The later ones were more optimistic. The early Christians were actually a sect of the Jews, and did not become a separate entity unto itself until the time of the Emperor Constantine when Christians no longer considered themselves a sect of Judaism, but a religion that was separate from it. Most Christians are extremely unaware of the origins of their own church, and some will vehemently deny this, but this is "history", not "mythology" or "theology".

There is a prophesy that a King will save Israel. They thought the king would be of Royal line and with great riches but when they hear Jesus was the Messiah they did not want to believe that a simple carpenter would be a King.
He DID fulfill his prophesy, The Jews thought it was Blasphemy. The assumed he came from the Devil and healed people with Demons. Jesus did his mission, to LIVE as man, DIE as man but RISE as the Messiah.
The Jews are still waiting for the Messiah while The Catholics are waiting for the 2nd coming of their Messiah. It's all about faith, not about science or such.

if you check, you will discover that when questioned in the temple by the rabbis, Jesus flunked their test. so they urged that he be tortured and nailed to a cross. Jesus was a lot like Buddha(s) who place far less importance on material gain than the rabbis. he went against the money changers and other merchants.Jesus came along about 500 years after Buddha and there are some historians who suggest Buddhism was the source of his simple philosophy. did you know Jesus never spoke of heaven and hell? did you know the evil popes around the year 1000 a.d. started all that to help keep the masses in check? just what do you know? just as i suspected another doofus with concrete from ear to ear. either learn and learn to think of simply enjoy the planet like the other creatures. concentrate on sex, feeding and bonding with your herd. stay out of spiritual matters other than directives learned in Sunday school, if you are christian. the story of eve chopping on that apple tells what happens to naive folks like you when you delve into things you should avoid. do like the three wise moneys or perish.
