No, i don't think its stupid to have a dog as your best friend. One of the most essential values of a friendship is loyalty and a dog is the most loyal creature on earth. They have beautiful souls and loving hearts.
However, if you only interact with dogs and not humans too... them perhaps there may be something psychologically wrong with you. But preferring the company of dogs to humans is understandable.....

It's not stupid at all. I have always personally felt, and knew, that my dog would always love me more than any human would. Dogs are very loyal creatures and would do most anything for their owners. Why do you think they are called man's best friend? With dogs, you don't have to worry about them stabbing you in the back, stealing your boyfriend, borrowing money and not paying you back, etc. You give them a good home and you get all their love. It's a good trade.

No I don't. Whilst I have a number of dogs, one dog in particular is MY best friend. When we are apart we pine for each other - she gets depressed and she won't eat and she sulks and won't play. I miss her so much I ache. I'm currently away from her for 4 months and I talk to her on skype but she gets upset and she shakes and trembles. It's so not stupid to have a dog as a best friend. They're always loyal to you, even if you're having a bad hair day or just a bad day in general. When you look fat and you have panda eyes and you smell like cigarette smoke after a big night out, they still love you. They're always happy to see you and they don't complain about your bad habits.
They like you better if you haven't showerd!! haha. :P
This particular dog has helped me through deaths of family members and a friend, severe depression, and a suicide attempt. I pretty much love her more than anyone on earth (apart from my boyfriend!) and I will be distraught when she passes. She shows me nothing but love and affection. We've grown up together and I love her so much.

Nope, not stupid at all. People are stupid, and flake on you. Friends family, siblings, boy/girl friends all have seemingly conditional love.
Dogs have unconditional love.
My nine dogs are my best friends, but my golden retriever, Miss Ginger, is my absolute best friend. I choose to spend time with her over my human friends.
Because of this relationship, we have accomplished so much.
She is the #17 dog in the nation in AKC Obedience.
We recently took 5th place in the AKC NOI in December.
We also compete in AKC Agility and she is in the top of her division currently.
So there are perks to having your dog be your very best friend. No shame!

I dont think having a dog for a best friend is dumb at all...I have 5 "best friends" they always listen to my problems,can sense when I'm having a bad day and never,never judge me... and for all this they ask nothing in return...that's a true friend

Of course not. Dogs are excellent companions. Some people might argue their best of friends have been the dogs in their lives.
They don't cheat you.
They won't leave you for a newfound partner.
They will never envy you.
They will cherish every minute spent with you.
Heck! What else could you possibly ask for?

No. I think it's totally fine having a dog as a best mate, they listen all the time and are great companions. But make human friends as well!

My friend LUCIA has 3 dogs as best friend..... Some people are a little AUT-ist. But we must persevere in having "human beings" as best friends... Is easy-er with dogs, because they do not comment.... Make a pleasant person of you, and the other people will make a friend of you...
