As far as the number of suitcases, I believe each individual airlines sets those regulations depending upon the type of aircraft that you will be traveling on. As far as what you can pack in the carry on and checked luggage the TSA sets those regulations, you can find the complete list on their website http://www.tsa.gov/

Each airline has its own restrictions on the no. of checked and cabin baggage they would permit and their max. dimensions, weight, etc. You can check these out by visiting the website of the airline you have chosen.
