You don't give enough info. Beef, chicken, pork, fish?
How Long?
In what packaging?
What is the temperature in the house?

Hint: next time you want to thaw anything, give it a day in the refridgerator instead of on the counter.
Also microwaves thaw meat weee these days if you follow the instructions.

Is the meat still cool to the touch? If it became warm or you left it out over night toss it out! You can get a new slab of meat but getting sick is something you can do without. In the future a good way to defrost meat is to place it in a zip bag and put the bag in cold water in no time (like 30 min) you are ready to use. Another option would be to defrost in the fridge for a day.

How long was it out after it thawed and what kind of meat is it? If it has been out more than 4 hours after it thawed I wouldn't touch it especially if it is chicken, pork, wild game, or fish!!!!

I think beef holds up better than chicken or pork. If its been a matter of several hours and the meat has turned colors (beef gets dark red, almost brown) after sitting so long, then I would toss it.

It depends on how long you left it out for. If it was out more than a few hours, I would get rid of it. The rule in the kitchen is, "when in doubt, throw it out."

It's a shame to throw away food, but getting sick is much worse.

If you left it out while you went to work, it should be fine-- if it's been hanging around for a day or a week, get rid of it.
