Because they are ignorant that is why...Of course it gives them emotional comfort but the reality is no one knows where we'll end up...its very smug of them to think they are the only ones to be sent to heaven.

If you believe on the name JESUS, you can know without a doubt in your mind you will go to heaven when your time is up on this earth. The bible say's, referring to Jesus, " I am the truth the way and the light and no man comes to the Father except thru Me. You MUST be born again or you will in no way see the kingdom of heaven" Thoes who do not go to heaven WILL see hell. My comfort is in KNOWING I do have a place prepared for me by my Father & I also get comfort in doing the Lord's work on this earth and that is to share the gospel so no man will see the hell side.

Only the ones who have been saved and acknowledge who our true God is will go to heaven. The others? Well, I guess you could say that that is their problem. Getting emotional gain? At least I know where I'm going.

It is true that some will go to hell, and some will go to heaven. This is because those who accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, [as stated in John 3:16] have claimed the promise that they will go to heaven. Jesus paid for our sins. He experienced all the sufferings therefore, those who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior will go to heaven. Those who don't, no matter how much good works they do on earth, they will not go to heaven if they do not receive Christ. It is stated in the Bible that 'For it is by faith you have been saved, not through good works that no one may boast.' I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question. God bless. Peace out!

Of course they do. How comforting is it to think that you will be hangin out in paradise with your invisible freind, god, after you die and all the people who called you a brainwashed moron will be burning in eternal hell.

Not to mention foolish, this is a very selfish emotion too. Can they even grasp the concept of ETERNAL suffering?!? Then to just wave it off as many innocent people are sent there for simply not believing in a god when evidence, the only means for humans to base a conclusion off of, pointed to the absense of god.

So we got these people down as:
Foolish
Self-Absorbed
...hmmm, I wonder what other traits religion draws from people.

I think its just to make people do the right thing while they're still alive....... Kind of a way to control behaviour so we don't all go crazy when we realize there's no hell and you "can" indeed do "bad things". Morally, you shouldn't do "bad things" but I think people are more loyal to religion than social expectations.

YES, its defenetely for emotional comfort.

My father as a good man. He attended church most of his life. He was a deacon in his church. I can remember the many conversations he and other members of the Church had standing outside of the store front church. They were sure that catholic people ere going to hell because they worshiped idols. I think it somehow allowed them to feel better about themselves. I still think my Dad was a good man... and Heaven? I am sure he made it. But I am sure he was surprised to find all denominations as well as some of those he felt were sinners waiting there to welcome him there. You can only lead by example.

You know, there are some people in the world who aren't worth trying to converse with, and fundamental types fall into that category.
It just isn't worth the energy to deal with people who have all the answers and who are oh-so Right-- their little brainwashed minds are locked up tight.
Just don't bother with them-- they won't go away, but you need to live and let live, which is a concept the religiously handicapped just don't get.

but it is NOT conjecture. the reality of Heaven and Hell is quite clear in God's word.

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us that are saved it is the power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18

Because they are Baptists. It makes them feel good.
All you have to do is kneel at the pulpit of a Baptist preacher and do the special incantation, and you can know that you are destined for heaven, and you will feel good.

Knowing that people of other persuasions will spend eternity screaming in agony, that is an added bonus.
Contact your local Baptist church for details.
