I have this really old cat named Simon, he's 19 in human years and about 95 in cat years. When ever he stands up, he meows really loudly, or if he wakes up he will, or for no reason at all. He'll just walk around meowing this really painful meow. Is this normal for an old cat? Or is there something wrong with him? Help!

Hi there...19 is an incredible feat for most cats to ever reach this age. There could many various possibilities as to why he may be meowing loudly if this is a recent and sudden change. Perhaps, consider ringing your vet to see if a visit would be of benefit. Most senior cats should see a vet more often in order to better manage their overall health since their system is more fragile later in life.

You have a very old man on your hands. He could be just suffering from old age (sore joints, skin that is easier to bruise) or he could have something more serious. Either way you should take him to the vet to have him checked out. When they are that old I have found it best to just do regular check ups every 6 months instead of once a year. Old age can be hard on any living creature.

He's old, he may have Alzheimers and he's talking to himself like an old person does when walking about. If you talk to him he may answer you. He also has bad arthritis in his joints and is in pain when he gets up or down, thus the painful shouting. Take him to the vet for some oral arthritis medication because I dont think you can get pills down him.

You have to take him to the vet. At his age there could be something really wrong with him.
