As the parent you must set boundaries.
My cat used to have such separation anxiety issues I couldn't leave the door to the bathroom closed. Be firm and be realistic. A small part of you enjoys having something constantly wanting you. When he jumps up on you, brush him off. If he jumps on the table, use a spray bottle of water. You need alone time too. It is not mean to maybe put your cat in the spare bedroom for a few hours (leave a litter box, toys, food & water). Avoid the meows that will come .............he will get over it and will find something to occupy his time. Then set a schedule with your cat, a certain time everyday that the cat knows will be special time with you and him. This should help you.

This is unusual. I dont' know much about cats other than they are usually independant creatures and are not so demanding. If I were you, I'd locate some books on the "kind" of cat you have. Perhaps there is something in his nature that warrants your attention. Or perhaps you might consider this: animals in our homes will usually relate to us. If you are a homebody and maybe are not active - your cat might just enjoy being around you - and then the moment you switch up - is unable to adjust. For example: We sometimes set the pace for our animals and they become conditioned to the way we act, react and treat them. When I had my dog, I was a homebody. She knew she could come and sit with me and watch tv and sleep, lay her head on my lap and hang with me. But when I would desire to do something else - she'd look up at me as if I were deserting her. Our pets pick up our habits. Get out more - do more stuff away from the kitty. Or - get him a friend to play with. (smile)

Cats are independnt huh? Cats are part of a very structured social heirarchy. If you have raised your cat from kittenhood, he most likely views you as the provider of food and safety.
I like cats for a very specific reason, they are biological killing machines, claws and fangs, articulating spine, forward facing eyes for depth perception, stereoscopic ears for pinpointing sounds, stealth and cunning. Out of all of their biological traits suited to their design, cats still prefer comradery, and affection. It is a good idea to make sure ur cat knows you are the Alpha cat.

as my brother says along with his kitten (he's older and sounds like a tricky nut!) ''the cat woke me up at 5am asserting ITS TIME FOR CATS!! so i took him downstairs fed him and performed with him'' now if i wake my brother i'm getting instructed to F*** off even nonetheless whilst its ''time for cats'' it relatively is wonderful. its surely a scientific incontrovertible fact that cats will circulate to the guy who likes them least, we've shown this as my mum would not like cats yet he will sit down on her knee, its all approximately what a cat needs it gets!! i guess like various of my kinfolk you are able to tell a dogs to get out of your seat yet you will sit down around a cat no rely how uncomfortable it particularly is for you!!! And whilst its time for HARASS A CAT TIME!! they turn their nostril up and verify out you like you disgust them! it relatively is cats for you and due to this we like the autonomous little gits x

You are not focused 100% on him right now and he's letting you know you need to be. My cat stands on my keyboard. She "helped" me almost pay over a million dollars towards my credit card bill once cause she bumped some keys while up there!

This is just his temperment. He is very friendly and loves people. If you want him to leave you alone, just ignore him. He'll eventually stop. I wish I had a cat like yours!
