Taunt you? Tell them to grow up if they're at that age. When I got braces the least of my worries was being made fun of. People at my school have braces. I've only had them on for 6 months now and I'm 16. The first day I went back to school with braces I was so excited about telling my friends I had braces. Some hardly noticed and were surprised when they did. Even on the second day one of my classmate was just realizing I had braces. I got the clear ones on my upper teeth so it's harder to notice. I like those better. For some people braces is a way of life and a lot of my classmates had already had braces and even if they didn't they know I'm doing something about improving my smile. If your friends taunt you and make fun of you tell them to get a life. My friends never poked fun at me having braces. It was just another first day at school. And I hardly realize I have braces on sometimes. It fades away. And when you get them off say hello to the greatest day of your life!

I had the old metal hardware, but funnily enough forty years ago nobody made fun of you for getting braces. Most kids wished their parents could afford to get them braces. Today the braces aren't as ugly as our's were.

People who tease you about something you can't help aren't your friends. They may be jealous or they just may be ignorant and mean . They tease you find some other people to be your friends. And they will be jealous after your teeth are fixed because you'll have a beautiful smile.

You bet they do, but at 15 everybody taunts everybody (just about), if it wasn't about your braces it would just be about something else. But your dentist knows whats best for you.
Being 15 is just one of those times in life when people feel they are grown up enougth to taunt people, but they are not grown up enougth to know it`s wrong to do so. It only lasts a few years though, and by the time they reach their late teens most will stop acting this way. Though I do know one or two who still acts like that when they are full adults. This one guy I knew, he was 58 and still acts that way, I guess some people just never grow up.

well, you can always let them know ahead of time that you are getting braces and how it makes you feel. if they are true friends they won't taunt you. just remember that the braces are there for a reason. when it is time to have them removed you will have a perfect smile:^)

You're going to get some taunts to start but like everybody says not if they are your friends. If you do just ignore them. You need them for your own good presumably so don't let anyone mess it up for you.

Just remember they are not a permanent feature.

If they tauntyou, they are not your friends. Braces are temporary and on your teeth for a reason. There is no reason to tease and make fun of you. They are not good friends if they think that they should.

If they begin to taunt you, be very firm about saying, "Hey, this is my life and my mouth. I am doing this for me. And I'll look great when they come off, so deal with it."

Hold your head high and have confidence. The time will pass quickly enough and they'll accept it ~ if you show confidence.

I bet you'll look so cute!! Don't worry about what others think...just think how pretty your teeth will be when they are ready to come off...all straight and nice.

I wore braces for about 3 years...and loved it the whole time.
