I'm not Buddhist; but I do zazen almost every morning.

The best book I have ever read about zen is "Zen Training: Methods And Philsophy" Katsuki Sekida.

Find a group to sit with, preferably with a good teacher. It makes so much difference. If there's nothing Buddhist that you can get to, try the Quakers. There really is something special about sitting quietly with others. Beyond that, don't worry or attach to it. Just read, study and meditate. It's the kind of thing that you lose if you go after it too hard.

I listed a bunch here the other day--and, as you'll see, heavily influenced by Buddhist-style meditation: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoRG5id0Cof9dqeVuD37aNzsy6IX?qid=20061214081417AAReiQb&show=7#profile-info-fdae2db8c1949234eabb30a2f60818ccaa
