Some books you can get freely online. With some books you get free CDs. When you buy CDs of s/w you can get books free also. So it all depends on what and how you want it.

Look for a recycling centre in your area -
People throw away books ( text books, comic books, novels, magazines ), CD's etc.
People hold rummage or garage sales where you can buy them for pennies - that's almost free.
Customs officers impound books and CD's that are illegal - they must dispose them off somewhere - find out the scrap yard.
In North America many webbrowsers are distributed free of charge and many of them end up being coasters or reflectors for small light bulbs.
Start a non-profit clearinghouse business in India for recycling such items that people want to dispose off for free and you can have the benefit of running a business + the free fringe benefits.
