Honestly, the only thing that has worked for me 100% is laser treatment. I was totally skeptical at first. I had gotten laser treatment every other week for 6 months in 2005. I'm completely & totally clear ever since. It's amazing. Everything else is crap & a waste of money. The amount of money I've wasted trying out different products added up to more than the laser. I've gone to a dermatologist who prescribed me Doxicycline pills & gave me Retin-A which did NOTHING. Proactiv didn't work for me either. I hope you take my advice it's the only thing that works. Whenever I see someone with acne I feel like telling them =( Benzoyl peroxide will only dry out your pimples and make them look flaky. Will make it look worse. *** Word of advice-those pills you're taking are doing more harm than good. You shouldn't take any of those pills for acne!!! Trust me! ***

Both of my young adult kids have serious acne, and both have done the Accutain thing, which has helped, but I still don't think it's a good idea to use that. But, I have heard from many that Proactive works really well on most people. I know it can be expensive, but if you can afford it, you may get positive results. There are infomercials on tv about it all the time, if interested. Acne can be very painful, and it's been hard watching my kids go thru it, good luck to you.

I used to have quite bad acne too, and its not fun, is it? Basically, after years of fighting this condition I can offer the following advice-
-Wash your face in the morning and again in the evening before you go to bed with a foam cleanser-Garnier do one in their 'pure' range. These are basically mild water based cleansers that shouldnt dry your skin out too much.
-Don't use an exfoliator more than once or twice a week-again, these can dry your skin out, which then makes it generate more grease to compensate, which makes the problem worse.
-Personally, I have never found toners to much good-these contain alcohol, which again, drys your skin out, leaving it feeling tight and unpleasant.
-Other things which can help-UK products, anyway-'The Body Shop' Tea tree Oil face mask once or twice a week, 'Superdrug' Tea Tree Oil Blemish gel should sooth those red marks.
Hope it gets better-its sad but true that it often gets better as you get older. Dont over cleanse like I say- I think a lot of products strip all the natural oils out of your skin, and I have a suspicion people like Biactol make money by perpetuating the problem.

ur skin could be reacting to this products that you are currently using. Keep your cleanser as mild as possible - try dove extra sensitive soap or cetaphil cleanser and maybe try using something with salycic acid like neutrogena blemish range. You could also try products line panoxyl 5 or 10 or oxy 5 or 10. These creams contain benzyl peroxide which fights acne. If the problem persists go see your doc

Go and see your Doctor. They are much more sympathetic than you'd think. I''ve got something called Zineryt (erythromycin + zinc acetate) . It's a roll on anti biotic that you apply twice a day after washing your face with something mild and gentle. It is fantastic.
Also, look at your diet, certain foods can make your acne worse (dairy for example)
good luck x

I'm well in my 20's, and still get spots. My GP prescribed me Minocin tablets (Minocycline). It's a form of anti-biotic, and it does work. No matter how clean I kept my face, or the treatments I used, I still got spots. Just very unfortunate, I guess.
From my experience, most GPs are sympathetic to acne sufferers, when you explain you are conscious socially of the spots, and how painful they are, etc.
Good luck, I can truly sympathise.

i went to my gp and she gave me Zineryt lotion, its worked really well and cleared my skin up, i found garnier pure a moisturiser works well and avoiding harsh products, your skin still needs to be exfoliated, once a week such be enough but be careful if your skin is active as it may cause more irritation.
