Because to be that emotionally honest with someone is not easy to do when sober and obviously he does'nt feel comtortable saying deep emotional things when he's sober.
The problem with drink is it can act as truth serum and get emotionally blocked off people to truly express the way life's problems make them feel.
The best thing you can do is talk to him when your both alone together, not over the phone or in a text.
Tell him you love him and no matter what you'll be there for him (if thats how you feel for him) let him know your not tainted by what he's said your more eager to get to know him and love him.
Also give him a stern talking to for trying to jump outa the car whilst drunk on a motorway as he could've killed himself

Give him a break! His friend has died, you've only been together a month, and considering he has a daughter I'm guessing that he may have loved someone perhaps in the past but it didn't work out.
I'd be more concerned about him trying to kill you both.

I'd be concerned that he handles stressful situations by getting drunk. You may consider finding out why you are in love after one month. It takes at least one year before you know what someone is really like.

the drink can make us all do & say stupid things that we dont really mean at the beat of times, but as your boyfriend had just buried his friend he would be feeling quite down anyway & mixed with drink has made him feel worse,he"l need you to be there for him just now, just try & talk to him about how hes feeling just now & dont pressure him into saying he loves you,he will tell you in time but only when hes ready, just be patient, itl be worth the wait! x

Some times sobor is to real and being drunk is anything goes.
Is it important that he say it. I don't say it in this house but I know very well someone knows just how it is. Words are cheap so be aware of that.

alcohol heightens our emotions so he probably does love you he may just be shy/embarassed. he was probably acting out in the car because of his friend. we all deal with death in different ways. try talking to him, ask him if he wants to talk about his friend, if not dont push it. i suspect he will tell you he loves you when he's ready he may just regret having done it when he was in such a state.
hope it all goes well x x x

alcohol loosens one's inhibitions maybe he's too embarrassed over the car incident to say it again. Plus I"m sure he was stressed out and depressed from the funeral. Alcohol makes you do stupid things

hey, you've only known him for a month. we all know what the average man is like: hear the word commitment and run away. and love often means commitment, so maybe he just isnt ready to say it yet. when drunk, doesn't everyone go around telling everyone they love them? wait for him to feel ready, and when he is ready to say it, itll mean so much more to you.

Sounds shy to me, a lot of people can only show their true feelings when they are drunk. xx

I hate to say it, but he just showed you your future.
Is he divorced? Find out why.
Next time don't say love so fast.
