Big companies like Windows make sure that they're software can't be used by everyone and thier grandma. Some software is only valid for one installation on one computer. Others only valid for 2 to 5. Some for 50+.

If you want to be able to install your software into more computers, you have to pay out of the nose for the ability to do so.

Your XP apparently only had 2 installations in it. You can call up microsoft to explain your problem...but they'll tell you to pay a fee to get a new key. That's really your only solution.

It's sad that Bill Gates wants more and more money, and that we're the fools whom will keep paying him. This is only happens because good ol bill wants more cash...and that's it.

Because people steal, or borrow the discs and make illegal copies. Borrowing the codes are highly illegal for any of the new windows operating systems, and their technology is getting very advanced to where if you needed to get a download, automatic update, program, anti-virus from microsoft you wont be able to. They are also coming out with a new program that will be able to tell whether you have illegal software on your computer and it will keep you from using it. I thought I would tell you so you don't get in trouble, no I'm not kidding, be safe and take care!

Welcome to the world of WindBlows Genuine DIS Advantage.
You have just been labeled a PIRATE by M$ and you will have to spend some time on the phone to M$ to prove you are NOT. The easy solution ( and what M$ wants you to do ) is buy another copy of WindBlows software.
That is why I will not buy any more M$ products past WindBlows 2000 and I am headed towards SimplyMEPIS or KUBUNTU for my software needs.
Vista has a KILL SWITCH built in too. So does Office 2007. M$ can turn off your stuff REMOTELY now!

If you use your XP product key on more than one computer, you are violating their terms and it becomes invalid on the new system. It will still work on the old system. In order to install XP on another system, you must purchase another copy of Windows XP.

Because the EULA (which is, actually, a LEASE agreement!) says you get to use it on one machine, and you have tried to PIRATE it, like the huge, major, convicted Pirate Felon Microsoft!

Microsoft has had their PROBATION revoked, then extended, for THREE MORE YEARS!!!

Why people even deal with them is a huge ponderable, when there are 811 OTHER OSes, most of which are FREE, stable, and even Microsoft runs Linux on all their systems!!! Converted starting in 1997!
