marijuana can often cause a permanent mental health condition called drug induced schizophrenia...

lots of drugs can cause temporary psychotic episodes that stop when drug use ceases... but marijuana causes a permanent condition.. drug-induced schiizophrenia is a tragic and incurable permanent condition that stays with them for life....

the idea that marijuana relieves depression is a trick of his mind, he thinks it relieves his depression but in fact it makes him more depressed both marijuana and alcohol are depressants they make depression worse.

I have two brothers and one of them was on heroin and the other on pot...... guess which one is permanently affected... Yes the pot smoker now has a lifelong condition he will never be cured of his schizophrenia even though he gave up the pot years ago ... the heroin user went cold turkey and took himself off the stuff... he is now fine..

I have two nephews who thought dope was the answer to their problems... both now have drug induced schiizophrenia one of which is in jail as a result of his psychotic episodes... He will be there for a very long time..

Your brother is unlikely to believe any of this information and will cite a whole list of people who have been on pot all their life with no ill effects...... it is what addicts do... all you can do is tell him.

Smoking dope makes a person feel like they're curing their depression. That's because it has a temporary positive effect on depression.

The problem is that in the long run it actually makes a person more depressed. The chemical changes it makes in the brain increases depression.

So yes, he is kidding himself. What might work the best is for you to find sites and literature that talks about the dangers of marijuana use on mental health. Just make sure it's not from a site that uses sensationalism to grab people's attention because then he'll really not listen to it.

Good luck!

Wtf? Get a new doctor. But I hear exercise is a great anti-depressant. (: EDIT: Okay, I don't see how you have the right to call other people rude when you're the one telling us the kiss your ***. From the way you responded to our answers, I think perhaps what you are trying to say isn't being understood, because it's hard to understand when you're not using correct grammar. Anyways, no, smoking is a really bad cure for depression, and in the end will be the only thing that keeps you sane. Good food and exercise is best, if pills do not work.

Well dont be too hasty. He is feeling the pain of depression removed and pains of muscles removed. It will be short lived and just as the meds will return depression stronger when you dont take them so too will dope return the pain more strongly when he runs out. He may have bought time for himself to relax and get ready to face his problems again. Burning lots of brain cells wont hurt him either.

if your bro is a doctor have him write you a script for the kind of dope he is prescribing if you are unsure get a second opinion then toke it up . if your depression worsens or if you are now paranoid and depressed or if you find yourself saying "eer" more than 4 timed per day discontinue use then see if you can maintain an erection for more than four hours if you can sell it on e-bay brag to your buddies or call a sorority if your still depressed call me and I'll give you something to be depressed about!!!!!!!

If marijuana was a cure for depression, half the people in this country would be walking around stoned right now!

Tell him that self-medicating himself because of an emotional affliction is only going to make things worse for himself.

Tell him "Drugs are bad m'kay"

Gawd - I did a google search for "THC depression" and most reputable sites and journals document THC (that's the active ingredient in the marijuana) CAUSES depression. The schmoo site is dodgy and not to be believed.

Ask him to show you the specific research study that proves this. Do your own research; there is probably more research that points to drug use causing depression.
