if you want to do the lines yourself...make a new layers and use the stroke or the pen tool...the pen tool give better results but you have to know how to use it....read the tutorial....

If you can manage to draw using your pencil without leaning (or putting too much pressure) on the paper, B2 will work best for you. The lines are dark, but it won't hold on the paper so well, so you wont have a hard time erasing them. But if you are the kind of artist who draws better by leaning hard (or putting great pressure to control the pencil better) on the paper, then HB would probably work better for you. Since the lead is harder , and the lines are lighter (in shade). You wouldn't have a hard time erasing them because they are already not that visible. As for me, i prefer the B2 pencil... although the lines are dark, they are easier to erase and they dont leave (canal like lines). the B2 pencil dont scratch the paper because the lead is soft. For better results, I use a mechanical pencil 0.5, with a B2 lead. The lines are thin yet dark. :)

The best way is to draw a pencil sketch and then scan it as a (High contrast) Grayscale.
OR if you do a line drawing(no gray tones) scan it as Line art.

Then you can tweak it in Photoshop if you like.

Best thing to do would be to use strokes over the image, and the use "stroke to path" and set it up to look like pencil. There are numerous tutorials out there that can show you how to do that, and the results are generally quite impressive.
