I am just curious, that is all. the first person who answered should have just answered the question if she knew or ignored this question if she did not know. Not posting insulting questions to me...Liz.

Serious answers only please. Thanks!

I am a Master Mason. I know you are probably looking for women to answer your question, but I believe that I can provide you with an appropriate understanding.

A Mason's wife is married to a man who is just a man with high morals. Your friend will not have anyone forcing her to do anything and never will her husband.

There are no "special" rules. If she is marrying a Mason, then he must know that she is a high moral person as well. Your friend may even begin practicing chartiy as well.

yes there are. you have to be loyal to your country, believe in a god and be a moral, charitable person. last time i checked those rules applied to anybody who wanted to be a decent citizen and a good person. i am a member of the order of the eastern star and the daughters of the nile and a majority member of the international order of rainbow for girls. these are all parts of the masonic family to which young women and older women belong. i have been a member since i was 11 years old and i am 25 now. as a young girl in the rainbow i learned public speaking and leadership skills. i participated in and organized many charity drives, met many new friends, and made more memories than i can count. i also raised money for a local womens shelter, a scholarship fund for young women, local animal shelter and food bank among many others i cant even remember. i am still an active member in the adult organizations and currently hold an office. i wish everyone could understand what a wonderful thing the masons are. i understand there is a natural fear of the unknown but if you are that afraid, why not join and find out the truth? think about it this way, if you dont like it or find it to be evil then you can always demit. this is truly a wonderful organization and there are no special rules that anyone has to follow except to be a decent human being. the secret signs and passwords are no more secret than that of a college fraternity and that doesnt make them evil does it? we get together for friendship and to try to make our communities a better place. if your friend is marrying a mason then they cant be that bad can they?

Masons are just like everyone else...being a Mason is like being in a fraternity. There are rules that he has to follow and unless your friend is an Eastern Star or a member of another female organization (I was a Job's Daughter) then she won't be able to attend meetings and what-not...but there aren't any "rules" that she has to follow.

No, there are not special "things" to being a Mason. Believe in one god. and do good for others. They are a mens group and unless you join the Masonic Temple, the meetings are closed. They have rules not metal is to be touching the body (old rule) People in wheel chairs were not allowed in . They have been associated with the KKK and people of the Jewish faith. Talk to a Mason and you will see he is human like everyone else.

No there are not.
Today's Masonry is a fraternal order (think college frat, but more mature). Like the Elk's lodge.
They really only have two requirements for membership:
1) you must be male
2) you must believe in a Deity (one god)

Most masons use it to socialize, and network.

I like the first half of the Aquarius one (even tho it's not true, i've used some of that and reworded it in jokes before >"Someone having a rough time? Well, **** 'em! Literally! It'll cheer him up, at least"), but if i wanted to laugh at mine, i'd have to try really hard to make myself believe it's somewhat funny cus it's pretty corny. I liked the Leo one "The phrases "The check is in the mail", "I love you", and "I won't *** in your mouth" are all on the Top 10 Phrases to save for Leos. What more can you ask for in a husband?" < clever.

I don't know, sorry. They are very secretive, so she probably can't be a blabbermouth. I worked at a library and the masons would always come steal the books on masons. Secrecy by any means necessary, I guess. I couldn't do it.

Liz, why is everyone so averse to rules, gheesh!?
