Jewish months are based on a lunar calendar which consists of 354 days, and not 365. It is augmented every couple of years by including a "leap month" to keep the calendars more or less in sync. Abib (or Aviv) is the spring month, and coincides with march/april, though due to the difference in calendars it varies from year to year.
