The Israelite Exodus from Egypt, recounted in the Bible, tells of the oppression of the Israelites as slaves in Egypt, their flight from the country led by Moses and their journey through the wilderness before eventually settling in the "Promised Land".
Strictly speaking, there has never been any clear evidence discovered in Egypt, or elsewhere, to support the Israelite Exodus from Egypt, though there is no small amount of conjecture and theories. In fact, today it is fashionable, among Egyptologists, archaeologists and even some Jewish scholars to doubt the whole biblical story. At the same time, a complete rejection of this account may very well be undeserved, though it is very likely that the details of the incident may be lacking in historical footing.
Attempts to date the Exodus are problematic because of the Bible itself, for it provides us with two conflicting clues as to when the event took place. Kings 6:1 clearly dates the Exodus to 480 years before the founding of Jerusalem's temple by King Solomon. This would put the date of the Exodus at around 1450 BC. However, in Exodus 1:11, we are told that the Pharaoh put the enslaved Hebrews to work on two "store-cities" called Pthom and Raamses.

It is current thought that the most likely candidate for the"Exodus" Pharoah is Menteptah, son of the great Pharoah Rameses 2.
So the "Exodus date would be around 1212B.C.-1201B.C.
Up until recent times, Rameses 2 was wrongly thought to be the "Exodus" Pharoah.
It is strange that Ancient Egyptian writings and depictions give us no information about the "Exodus" at all ,leave alone as related in the Bible.
They are reknown for committing both victories and defeats to posterity e.g. on the walls of monumental constuctions, obelisks and steles.
There is mention of unrest at the time of Meneptah with the"Sea people"a coalitition of Mediterainean and Libyian forces.
It can not have been Rameses 2 as it is evident from the Bible that the city referred to is Pi-Rameses.
As it was contructed for Rameses2. and only just settled at the time of his death.
Rameses lived until his mid 90s.
But it was already inhabited and well established before the Isrealites decided to leave.
Yet, this is the city the Isrealites supposedly fled from, during its construction(?) Due to harsh labour and treatment inflicted on them.
Actual historical evidence has not yet been found to support the theory of the "Exodus", as related in the Bible.
However the Isrealites did leave Egypt for a short time. Until famine drove them back and many resettled and integrated with the Egyptians.
Whether they left enmasse, chased by a Pharoah is highly unlikely and can be debated, until historical evidence is revealed.
If the biblical dating from creation to this point is correct.
As one answerer informs us.
Then myself, and many others are sure at a loss to explain the building of the pyramids etc.Even with all the piles of evidence and confirmed datings. They just should not be thereFor they are over 4,000yrs old!
Are we wasting our time,in spending all these years studying the Ancient Egyptians.
Was it the aliens after all?
Or did the Egyptian falsify so much evidence?
Or,maybe just another case of epistemophobia.

It actually never happened. Egyptian royal records during the couple of hundred year time span that would have been close to when such an event would have occurred make no mention at all of such a migration (and they record everything, good and bad). So it is likely that this was a small tribe who invented the great saga as they attempted to assimilate other tribes and become a "nation".

if it ever happened, we would never know the date. christians have some funny ideas when it comes to that aspect of the bible. they believe the earth is only 6000 years old, so according to their calculations, it probably happened last thursday

Time is irrelevant to God. It's the concepts and lessons-learnt that are the important messages. That's what most people don't understand.
